Logos: Sometimes referred to as a symbol or mark,  a logo can be any graphic design element that is a visual representation  of a company, product or service.  I strive to create unique graphic symbols  that not only represent that company, product or service  but also leave a visually memorable imprint on the viewer. Presented here are 9 examples of the many symbols I've created  for a diversified range of organizations.

TV Concepts: As an art director my primary focus is in the creation of  ads, printed design materials, and web design. But because of the broad range of my combined experience, I have also worked to a lesser degree in TV. Here's an example of a pharmaceutical conceptual idea  for TV broadcast, presented in storyboard form. This section contains audio,  necessary for the understanding of the concept, so it's best to have your sound turned on.

Print Ads: I have a broad range of experience in the creation of national and local print campaigns for both large and small clients alike. This section showcases both trade and consumer advertising in a variety of diverse catagories.  My responsibility as an art director is not only visual, but includes the development of the overall advertising concept. Thus in many of the samples shown here, both the visuals and headlines were conceived by me alone. When that occurs, I've noted it in the descriptive copy on the right of the sample. This is but a small sampling of the many ads I've created.
Ad Concepts: These samples are all about concept. Before anything else,  print advertising must always have a strong concept as its foundation. That's why I've presented these samples in black and white,  with no body copy or other extra elements. Layout and design take a back seat for now and will come later. Concept is all we're concerned with here, conveyed by the visual and headline alone.
Motion: These samples include a web banner, web intro,  trade show kiosk presentations, and a medical tv spot.  They are just a few of the many motion projects I've created  on a diverse range of assignments. You can also check out the web design section for additional motion examples. Since audio is an important component in most of these samples, it's best to have your sound turned on.

HTML The WhoMy name is Don King. For over 20 years I've worked as an Art Director, Graphic Designer and Web Designer creating award winning projects in some of the world’s largest advertising agencies in New York City. Concurrent with my career as an art director and designer I've also been an Adjunct College Instructor teaching advertising concept and design at two large east coast universities.I pride myself in offering clients the outstanding personal service that a small studio makes possible, while giving them the kind of high quality work matched only by the very best firms in this business. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Website This website is my art direction and graphic design portfolio. With over 75 samples shown here, you can get a pretty good idea of the kind of work I do. For those interested in my graphic design side, the design/print section is the place to go. It contains about a third of all the samples on the site. I encourage you to also take a look at the design/logos, web/motion and web/web design sections, which show the diversified range of print and web graphics that I've created. All done at an affordable cost that won't break the budget. On the art director side, the ads button will be most helpful in evaluating my work. Because my responsibility as an art director is not only visual, but also includes the development of the overall advertising concept, many of the samples shown in this section showcase concepts that contain both visuals and headlines that were conceived by me alone. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Projects My diverse portfolio includes memorable, innovative solutions for: Print Ads (Magazine & Newspaper Advertising) Brochures Folders Websites Catalogs Packaging Corporate Identity Logos Stationary (Letterheads, Envelopes, Business Cards) Restaurant Menus pharmaceutical Sales Aids & related materials Direct Mail Campaigns Interactive Media Motion Graphics And many other related graphic materials ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ The Clients I work with a wide variety of clients, both large and small. I've created major advertising campaigns for large multinational companies. And I’ve designed the menu and logo for one of my favorite local restaurants (with a guaranteed great table every time I go there!). I also work with advertising agencies and varied design firms helping them on projects when their work load becomes too great.  So whether you’re big or small, or any size in between, feel free to contact me any time. I'm always available to discuss any upcoming project that you have on your calendar.   You'll be extremely happy with the results . . . both on the creative side as well as the budget side! ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Contact info The Design Beacon New York City & New Port Richey, Florida (Gulf of Mexica coastline) Phone: 646.988.7272 Email: DonKing@TheDesignBeacon.com ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Watercolors too! Visit:  http://www.DonKingArtist.com I've created a second website that deals solely with the fine art painter/watercolor side of my career. Here you can view (and purchase if you like) recent watercolors I've painted. It's a side of my career that I've pursued for most of my life. I will, of course, still continue my art director and graphic design endeavors as well.

Websites: Using innovative animation and audio when suitableI strive to design sites that are memorable and stand out from the crowd. This website that you are visiting now is an example of that. I created it using 3 applications: Tumult Hype / Adobe Illustrator / Adobe Photoshop.Hype is an animation program and was used to create this entire site. Illustrator and Photoshop were used for all the still images including the lighthouse masthead at the top of this page. Other websites that I’ve created have privacy issues about having their website shown here So I decided to just show one additional website besides this one. It’s a site I created for myself  and shows the other side of my dual career that being a fine art painter.
Hi. This is Don King. thank you for taking the time to view some of my work. If you have any questions or have a project that you’d like to discuss please feel free to contact me anytime using one of these 2 options:
